John Nunes

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District announces with sadness the death of Fire Captain John Nunes on March 31, 2009, from leukemia.

Capt. Nunes served more than three decades with the Contra Costa Fire Protection District. He served as a reserve for eight years before being hired full time on April 1, 1983. In 1990 he was promoted to Senior Firefighter, and in 1998 he was promoted to Fire Captain. This April, Capt. Nunes would have completed 32 years of service.
