Battalion Chief Dave George is responsible for the overall coordination and operation of the entire EMS Division. This includes research and development as well as strategic planning, budgeting and oversight. He serves on several Contra Costa County EMS committees including co-chair of the EMS Fire Training Consortium.

As a Certified Emergency Nurse and Mobile Intensive Care Nurse for twenty-five years I have been afforded the opportunity to work in many aspects of Emergency Medical Services. I have worked in emergency departments and trauma centers both in rural and suburban settings; in the field, staging for event stand-bys and Advanced Life Support Transfers; in education teaching EMTs and MICN at Columbia Junior College; and in administration, as EMS Coordinator for Tuolumne County and Trauma Coordinator at Oroville Medical Center in Butte County. My education consists of a Bachelors Science Degree in Nursing from Pacific Union College, Certified as a Public Health Nurse, and Certified in Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC), Certified Mobile Intensive Care Nurse, Certified Emergency Nurse, and I possess a California Junior College Teaching Credential in Nursing, Health and related services.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is committed to ensure that prehospital quality improvement is continuous, and dedicated staff

guarantee that each patient, at every level and location within the system, receives the most appropriate care in the most efficient manner. It is my job to ensure this happens by developing, monitoring, training and evaluating proficiency of skills and patient care.

Greg Kennedy, CFRN

EMS Continuous Quality Improvement RN Greg Kennedy started in EMS in 1984 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. His eight-year military career was very successful and included many awards and commendations.

Greg completed his major in Human Resource Training and Development at the University of Southern Illinois. He became a licensed Medic and a licensed Vocational Nurse in 1985.  He attended Sacramento State University on a nursing scholarship, graduated as a Registered Nurse at the top of his class and received Outstanding College Student of America Award in 1989 and 1990.

His career has included medical work in Oakland, Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa; John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek; Sutter Delta, Brentwood; and Benicia Fire, Benicia CA. He flew full-time and part-time with Cal Star and with REACH as a flight nurse for more than seven years.

Greg's credentials include: CEN, CCRN, TNCC, TNCC Instructor, PHTLS, PHTLS Instructor, BTLS, ATLS, FNATC, NALS, ACLS, ACLS Instructor, PALS, PALS Instructor, BLS, BLS Instructor, CISD, Leadership 2000 Certificate, EMTP Instructor, EMT Instructor, and Reserve Fire Fighter Instructor Moraga/Orinda.

He joined the Contra Costa Fire District in June 2006.

Nina Bodway started with the EMS Division in February 2008.  She is the first person anyone visiting EMS meets.  Previously, she worked with the County Administrator's Office as the Affirmative Action Office secretary.  With the Affirmative Action Officer, she served as staff to the Advisory Council on Equal Employment Opportunity, assisted in implementing the Small Business Enterprise program, acted as a resource to department representatives and Affirmative Action Coordinators and contributed to producing Contra Costa County's Annual Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Progress Report.  She is enthusiastic and helpful and an outstanding and key member of the CC Fire EMS Team.
