Fireworks
No consumer fireworks of any kind are legal in Contra Costa County, including so-called “safe and sane” fireworks. Sale, possession or discharge of fireworks is illegal, constitutes a misdemeanor, and is a violation of Section 44-2.002, Contra Costa County Ordinance 72-19.
If you or someone you know has fireworks for disposal, call your local police or
our main office at 925-941-3300 for instructions. Do not take the fireworks to a fire station.

Fireworks
Schedule for 2009
The following professional fireworks shows are scheduled in Contra Costa County in 2009:
- Antioch: On July 4th from 2pm to 10pm there will be a festival, parade, and fireworks at Antioch’s Downtown Waterfront.
- Brentwood: Cornfest will be held July 10th from 5pm to 10 pm, July 11 from 10:30am to 9pm and on July 12 from 10:30am to 6pm, located at Oak Street and Second.
- Concord: On July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th from 4pm to 11pm there will be “The Singing Flag” and fireworks at Concord Neighborhood Park;
Also, on July 4th from 8am to 3pm there will be a parade and festival at Todos Santos Plaza in Concord.
- Martinez: On July 4th from 10am to about 11pm, there will be a festival and parade on Main Street and fireworks at the Waterfront Park.
- Oakley: On July 4th at 6pm there will be a festival and fireworks at Freedom Basin;
On July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd after the 8pm PRCA Rodeo there will be fireworks;
On July 4th at 7:30am there will be the 5k Freedom Run at Oakley Recreation Complex;
At 10am the parade will start at Center Street and State Road 32;
Then again, after the 8pm PRCA Rodeo there will be fireworks.
- Pittsburg: On July 4th at 5pm to 9pm there will be a festival and fireworks at Pittsburg Marina.
- Pleasant Hill: On July 4th at 8am there will be the 5k Firecracker Run starting in Downtown Pleasant Hill;
At 9:30am the parade will start in Downtown Pleasant Hill, followed by a festival.
Then at about 9pm fireworks will be held at College Park High School.
- Walnut Creek: On July 4th at 6pm there will be a park concert held at the Walnut Creek Civic Park.
Fireworks shooting normally starts at 9:15pm - 9:30pm and lasts from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. |
