Operations Division
The Operations Division is responsible for providing emergency and non-emergency services to the community. Included in this are responses to incidents requiring medical assistance, rescue, hazardous conditions, exterior hazard control, weed abatement and fire suppression. The division is also responsible for developing and delivering the curriculum for entry-level Firefighters as well as in-service training for the incumbent employees. Documentation of training for each employee is maintained in order to ensure qualification in a variety of disciplines.
The Operations Division is the largest division of the agency. It commands an annual operating budget of $58,225,532 and consists of approximately 325 full-time employees.
Currently the division is comprised of four Battalions consisting of 30 fire stations under the direction of an Assistant Chief. The Operations Division manages these programs:
1. Air (Oxygen and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
2. B.A.R.T. (Bay Area Rapid Transit)
3. EMS / Paramedic - EMT and Paramedic Program
4. Disaster Planning as part of County O.E.S.
5. Fire Trail Maintenance
6. Hazardous Materials On-Site Control
7. Technical Rescue
8. Reserve Firefighter Coordination
9. Target Information
10. Mutual Aid to Other Jurisdictions
