Training & Safety

The Training and Safety Division strives to provide the Members of the Fire District with the support, training, and education necessary to deliver superior Fire/Rescue/and Emergency Medical Services.  

It is the mission of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Training and Safety Division, to provide realistic and effective training and education for the purpose of advancing our personnel’s safety, performance, and career development through the application training methodologies and instruction.

The Training and Safety Division is responsible for:

• Recruit Academy Training
• Continuing Education and In-Service Training
• Improved Personnel Safety, Health, and Wellness
• Probationary Training, Education, and Evaluation
• Career Development

The Training and Safety Division is under the direction of Assistant Fire Chief Lon Goetsch.
The staff consists of:

• Safety Battalion Chief
• Two 40- hour week Training Captains
• Three 24- hour Shift Safety/Training Captains
• Secretary
• Senior Clerk
• Student Interns
